Bethel's website is, for the most part, a result of Nathan Leslie's efforts, who first developed its contents and initial layout in its entirety. In the 2007-2008 school year, two students from Mohawk Jr. Sr. High School named Ryen and Shane, under their teacher's direction, conducted a study of Nathan's previous site, and after that, a new navigation system, layout, and site structure was developed. The original content was transferred to the new layout, resulting in the website you see today. An effort was made to keep certain design elements in order to honor the efforts of our previous webmaster (Nathan Leslie), who originally created Bethel's website. The colors used in the main theme were kept, as well as styles used in headings and regular text. All the original content was then "transplanted" to the new site, and adjusted so it would fit into the new navigation structure. The guiding philosophy of this new website was to make it more "user-friendly" for those who update its contents, and hopefully promote the increased involvement of the congregation in its upkeep. Certain parts of the website that feature information that is constantly being changed integrated weblogs (blogs) so that anyone could post updates without having the need to know HTML, web design, or anything more technical than sending an email and simple text editing. (if you would like to help update the website, please contact the webmaster) Most of the pictures used throughout the site were "off-shored" to a photo hosting website, therefore decreasing the overall size and bandwidth required to maintain it. Services used (blogs, photo hosting, calendar) were provided free from online initiatives. We thank Nathan for developing the extensive content for Bethel's website, remembering that content is what makes or breaks a website, and Bethel's site is in great shape. Without his efforts, Bethel's website would probably not exist. Thanks also to all people involved in plugging information into the online blogs, and the online calendar! Without you, the website would be a dead spot in the Internet. To God be all the glory! Ryen and Shane are currently students at Mohawk Jr.Sr. High School. They excelled in Web Design I last year, and decided to take Web Design II this year. Web Design II is an independent study couse in which only capable students enroll and work in advanced projects related to web design. To introduce a little bit about them, Ryen is an avid fantasy reader (R.A. Salvatore), enjoys working with computers, takes tae-kwon-do lessons after school, and playing video games. Shane is a Boy Scout and enjoys playing soccer and hockey. They are juniors at Mohawk. |
